Mentorship and development for coaches working with combat sports athletes, built around the same principles used with elite fighters, national governing bodies, and Olympic organisations.
Apply For MentorshipWelcome to the ultimate mentorship program for strength and conditioning coaches in combat sports. Are you ready to take your business and coaching skills to the next level and help your fighters increase their performance? Look no further, because my Coach Mentorship Program is designed to provide you with the knowledge, tools, and support you need to become the best coach you can be.
The goal of the weekly presentations are to give you a comprehensive learning experience. Covering various areas of strength and conditioning related to combat sports and martial arts you will gain exposure to an array of topics and acquire a holistic understanding of the physical development of combat sport athletes.
All webinars are recorded to be watched back at your own convenience.
At the onset of the mentorship you will have a 1-1 call with myself to shape out your own development plan for the next 16 weeks. Each month we will have a further call to ensure the development points highlighted remain front and centre of your focus.
These calls are designed to challenge your current way of thinking and give you work to go away and do in your own time.
As part of this mentorship you will meet like-minded coaches who are in the same position as yourself. You will have access to a supportive community of like-minded individuals who understand the challenges and opportunities specific to your role.
You will also get the opportunity to speak to the guest presenters following their webinars and ask them any specific questions you might have.

Download SyllabusWith the rapid growth in popularity of combat sports and martial arts in recent years this has come with an increase in the amount of opportunities available to coaches who want to work within these sports whether it be MMA, Boxing, BJJ, Muay Thai, Karate, Taekwondo, etc.
With more and more fighters looking to find the extra 1% to improve their performance and develop themselves within the sport, strength and conditioning is now a permanent feature in most fighters' programs.
The challenge however is that there is very little clear and concise information out there as to how best prepare these fighters in the gym for the demands of their sport. This is where this mentorship program looks to help fill this gap.
I have been working with professional fighters across a multitude of sports for the past 8 years. This has included with professional organisations such as GB Boxing & GB Taekwondo, but also privately with fighters who represent at the highest level such as UFC, PFL, Bellator, WAKO and more.
This 4 month mentorship is designed to give you the practical information you need to coach athletes at this level along with the scientific rationale and literature to help you make decisions in areas such as programming and planning.
In this mentorship program you will learn how to build a successful business that revolves around training the athletes you want to work with, adopting an adaptation based approach to training which ensures you have full confidence your programs do exactly what you say they do, an understanding of energy system development and programming conditioning work, how to peak and taper your athletes around competitions, the nuances in programming for different combat sports, and much, much more.
My name is James Langford and I have been working in the field of high performance strength and conditioning for over 8 years and within coaching for over 12 years.
Although my journey in professional sport started off in Rugby I have been fortunate to work with elite level combat sport athletes since 2017. This has involved working directly with fighters competing in MMA organisations such as UFC, PFL and Bellator, I have worked with both professional and amateur boxers who have fought for their respective titles and I have been fortunate to support Kickboxing World Champions, Karate World Champions and elite Muay Thai fighters.
Not only this but I have also worked within organisations such as GB Taekwondo and GB Boxing supporting athletes to medals at both Olympic & Paralympic games, World Championships, Commonwealth Games, European Games and more.
Any strength and conditioning coach, personal trainer, or sport coach who wants to actively increase their knowledge around strength and conditioning, whether that's to help athletes they specifically work with or athletes at a club or gym they're a member of.
Not necessarily. A qualification to be able to coach is ideal, as it allows you to put into practise what you learn on the programme, but a number of coaches from taekwondo clubs and boxing clubs have been through the programme without specific S&C qualifications. Some fundamental understanding of strength and conditioning or physiology is helpful.
The programme runs for 16 weeks, but can be adapted if needed.
The programme is delivered entirely online. There's also an option for in-person visits should you wish to come to Manchester to spend time with me while I coach.
There are options for both pay monthly and pay in full.
Only 1 new mentorship student is onboarded each month, so applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
